Our tree is up and it’s time to crack on with the Christmas decorations. This morning we made some tree decorations out of Jumping Clay. With a 20 month old, the tree is an attractive *toy* so I wanted some decorations that wouldn’t be damaged if she pulled them off and played with them. So with some Jumping Clay, phone charm attachments and cookie cutters the kids and I made some tree decorations. Here is how you could make them too.

1. A Christmas Stripped Bell

Jumping Clay in 2 colours, bell cookie cutter and mobile phone charm attachment
How to Make Easy Jumping Clay Tree Decorations. - Bell 2
Work with the clay by stretching and folding the jumping clay to make it pliable.

Roll each colour into 2 balls of equal size.

Rolls these into lengths.

Place these next to each other, they will bond together on touch.

Flatten down so it still has a little thickness.

Place cutter on the clay to cut the bell shape.

Take the off-cuts away and keep to one side, and remove bell from cutter.

Insert pin for the mobile phone charm strap in the top of the bell, so the pin is completely inserted in the clay.

Your finished Bell Tree hanging. Let dry and hang on your tree.

 

2. Christmas Tree

This is where you will use those off cuts from the bell.

Stretch and fold the green and red, until the colour merges as it will form a brown for the trunk of the tree.

Green and the brown you made from the off-cuts, a tree cookie cutter and a mobile phone charm attachment.

Flatten out but keep a little thickness, put the brown at the bottom so it lines up with the trunk part of the cookie cutter.

Cut out the tree and remove from the cookie cutter.

Insert the mobile phone charm pin in the top of the tree.

If you want to add little baubles to your tree, roll tiny balls.

Place the little balls, gently on the tree, they will bond at touch so you don’t need to add much pressure so they stay balls.
Let dry and harden and all done.

 

When it is dry, it will feel foam like, so if the kids pull them off, they wont break.
